To become a licensed Private Investigator in California, you must work through each of these steps. The experience requirement is where most candidates stall.
1. Meet the BSIS qualifying experience requirement
Your hours must be investigative in nature and earned under proper supervision, or fall into an accepted equivalency category.
2. Complete Live Scan fingerprinting

4. Pass the California PI exam
